Baked Brie with Fig Jam
Warm, melty cheese with sweet fig jam and crunchy nuts
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the ingredientsPreheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Allow puff pastry to thaw for 40 minutes if frozen. Mix chopped nuts with honey and thyme (if using) in a small bowl.
-
Prepare the briePlace the brie wheel on a cutting board and slice horizontally through the middle to create two rounds. Spread the fig jam evenly on the bottom half, then sprinkle with the honey-nut mixture. Place the top half of the brie over the filling.
-
Wrap with pastryRoll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness. Place the filled brie in the center of the pastry. Fold the pastry up and over the cheese, pleating it at the top to enclose the brie completely. Trim excess pastry if needed, but ensure cheese is fully covered.
-
Prepare for bakingTransfer the wrapped brie to the prepared baking sheet. Brush the pastry all over with the egg wash, which will give it a golden color when baked. If desired, use small pastry cutouts from trimmings to decorate the top, securing them with additional egg wash.
-
Bake to perfectionBake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving to prevent the cheese from oozing too quickly when cut.
-
Serve and enjoyTransfer to a serving platter. Arrange fresh fruit slices, toasted baguette pieces, and crackers around the baked brie. Serve warm while the cheese is still soft and melty inside. Cut into the pastry to reveal the gooey cheese and sweet fig filling.
