Bacon Avocado Burger
Juicy beef patty topped with crispy bacon and creamy avocado
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the pattiesIn a large bowl, combine ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat. Divide into 4 equal portions and form into patties slightly larger than your buns, as they will shrink when cooking. Press your thumb into the center of each patty to create a small dimple, which prevents the burger from puffing up.
-
Cook the baconIn a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease. Leave about 1 tablespoon of bacon fat in the pan for cooking the burgers, if desired.
-
Grill the burgersHeat a grill or skillet to medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add olive oil or use the reserved bacon fat. Cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or adjust according to your preference. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover to melt. Meanwhile, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a separate pan.
-
Prepare the sauceIn a small bowl, mix mayonnaise with sriracha or hot sauce if using. Set aside.
-
Slice and prepare the avocadosCut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and slice each half into thin slices. Scoop out with a spoon or carefully peel the skin off each slice.
-
Assemble the burgersSpread the spicy mayo on both halves of the toasted buns. On the bottom bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the burger patty with melted cheese. Top with 2 slices of bacon (broken in half if needed to fit), several slices of avocado, and a slice of tomato. Add the top bun and serve immediately.
