
Vietnamese Banh Mi

Prepare the spreadIn a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and Sriracha sauce until well combined. Set aside for sandwich assembly.

Marinate the meatIn a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, honey or sugar, and minced garlic. Add the sliced meat and marinate for at least 10 minutes, or up to 1 hour in the refrigerator.

Cook the proteinHeat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated meat and cook for about 5-7 minutes until fully cooked and slightly caramelized at the edges. Remove from heat and set aside.

Toast the breadIf using butter, spread it on the cut sides of the baguettes. Toast the baguettes in a toaster oven or under a broiler until lightly crisp, about 2 minutes. Watch carefully to prevent burning.

Assemble the sandwichesSpread the Sriracha mayo on both sides of the toasted baguettes. Layer the cooked meat on the bottom half, followed by cucumber slices, pickled daikon and carrot, jalapeño slices, and a generous amount of cilantro.

Finish and serveClose the sandwiches, pressing gently to compact the fillings. Cut each sandwich in half diagonally if desired, and serve immediately while the bread is still warm and crisp.
