Instructions

  1. Prepare the pasta
Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F). Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta for 2 minutes less than package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside.
  2. Sauté the aromatics
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Combine the ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, sautéed onion and garlic, drained tuna, frozen peas, béchamel sauce or condensed soup, milk, half of the grated cheese, and chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
  4. Assemble the bake
Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch (23x33cm) baking dish. Spread it out evenly. Top with the remaining grated cheese and sprinkle with breadcrumbs for a crispy golden crust.
  5. Bake to perfection
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling. If needed, broil for the last 2 minutes to achieve a perfectly crisp top.
  6. Serve hot
Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with additional chopped parsley before serving. Serve hot with a simple green salad on the side.
