
Triple Chocolate Trifle
Decadent layers of chocolate cake, mousse, and ganache

Prepare the chocolate ganachePlace 4 oz of semi-sweet chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Heat 1/2 cup of heavy cream in a small saucepan until it just begins to simmer. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth. Set aside to cool completely.

Make the chocolate pudding layerIn a large mixing bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes until thickened. Refrigerate for 5 minutes to set slightly while preparing the next step.

Prepare the chocolate mousseMelt the dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth. Allow to cool slightly. In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla until soft peaks form. Gently fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream until no streaks remain.

Prepare the white chocolate creamMelt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth. Allow to cool slightly. Whip the remaining 1/2 cup heavy cream with remaining sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form. Fold in the melted white chocolate until fully incorporated.

Assemble the base layerIn a large trifle dish or glass bowl, arrange half of the chocolate cake cubes in an even layer. Drizzle with half of the coffee liqueur or brewed coffee. Spread half of the chocolate pudding over the cake layer, ensuring it reaches the edges of the dish.

Add the middle layersSpoon the chocolate mousse over the pudding layer and smooth with a spatula. Add the remaining cake cubes on top of the mousse and drizzle with the remaining coffee. Spread the remaining chocolate pudding over the cake.

Complete the triflePour the cooled chocolate ganache over the pudding layer, allowing some to drip down the sides. Top with the white chocolate cream, creating decorative swirls with the back of a spoon. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld.

Garnish and serveJust before serving, sprinkle the top with chocolate shavings. For a more elegant presentation, place additional chocolate decorations such as curls or small truffles on top. Serve chilled.
