Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the panPreheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch (23cm) round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper. Lightly flour the sides of the pan.
-
Combine dry ingredientsIn a medium bowl, whisk together the almond flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined and no lumps remain.
-
Cream butter and sugarIn a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
-
Add eggs and flavoringsAdd eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract and almond extract until fully incorporated. The mixture may look slightly curdled, but this is normal.
-
Combine wet and dry ingredientsGradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a rubber spatula, adding the milk halfway through. Mix just until combined - do not overmix.
-
Bake the cakePour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Sprinkle the sliced almonds evenly over the surface. Bake for 33-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the top is golden brown.
-
Cool and finishAllow the cake to cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then carefully invert onto a wire rack, remove the parchment paper, and turn right-side up to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar just before serving.
