Instructions

  1. Prepare the espresso
Brew a strong espresso using an espresso machine or stovetop espresso maker. Allow it to cool for about 2-3 minutes so it doesn't melt the ice too quickly when shaking.
  2. Chill your glasses
Place your martini glasses in the freezer for at least 5 minutes before serving to ensure your cocktail stays cold longer.
  3. Combine the ingredients
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the vodka, cooled espresso, coffee liqueur, and simple syrup to the shaker.
  4. Shake vigorously
Secure the lid on your cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for at least 20 seconds. This creates the signature foamy top layer and properly chills the cocktail.
  5. Strain and serve
Remove your chilled glasses from the freezer. If desired, rim the edge with sugar. Strain the cocktail into the glasses, pouring carefully to preserve the frothy top layer.
  6. Garnish
Float three coffee beans on top of each drink as a traditional garnish (representing health, wealth, and happiness). If desired, dust lightly with cocoa powder for an extra touch of elegance.
