Instructions

  1. Prepare the dipping items
Wash and dry all fruits. Slice bananas and pineapple into bite-sized pieces. Cut pound cake into 1-inch cubes. Arrange all dipping items on a platter or individual plates.
  2. Chop the chocolate
Finely chop the chocolate into small, even pieces to ensure it melts smoothly and evenly. Place the chopped chocolate in a medium heatproof bowl and set aside.
  3. Heat the cream
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium-low heat until it just begins to simmer at the edges. Do not allow it to boil. Remove from heat immediately when small bubbles form around the edges.
  4. Make the fondue
Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it stand for 2-3 minutes to soften the chocolate, then whisk gently until smooth and completely melted. Add the butter and continue to whisk until incorporated.
  5. Add flavorings
Stir in the vanilla extract, sea salt, and Grand Marnier (if using). If you prefer a sweeter fondue, add honey or maple syrup to taste. Whisk until the mixture is glossy and smooth.
  6. Transfer and serve
Pour the chocolate mixture into a fondue pot and light the fuel source to keep it warm. If you don't have a fondue pot, use a small slow cooker set to the lowest setting, or serve in a warmed ceramic bowl (you may need to reheat periodically).
