Chocolate Dipping Sauce
Rich, silky chocolate sauce perfect for fruits and desserts
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the ChocolatePlace the chopped chocolate in a medium heat-proof bowl. Make sure the chocolate pieces are roughly the same size to ensure even melting.
-
Heat the Cream MixtureIn a small saucepan, combine the heavy cream, butter, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat until it just begins to simmer around the edges (do not boil). Remove from heat.
-
Make the Ganache BaseIf using espresso powder, stir it into the hot cream mixture until dissolved. Pour the hot cream mixture over the chopped chocolate and let stand for 1 minute to allow the chocolate to soften.
-
Emulsify the SauceUsing a whisk, stir the mixture gently starting from the center and working outward until the chocolate is completely melted and the sauce is smooth and glossy. Avoid whisking too vigorously to prevent air bubbles.
-
Add FlavoringsStir in the vanilla extract and liqueur (if using) until well incorporated. The liqueur adds complexity to the flavor but can be omitted for a family-friendly version.
-
Serve or StoreTransfer the sauce to a serving bowl if enjoying immediately, or to a container with a tight-fitting lid if storing for later. The sauce can be served warm or at room temperature with various dipping items like strawberries, banana slices, marshmallows, or pound cake.
